Welcome - You have found Red's Home and Lawn Repair Service. My name is Ron Offutt, the owner, contractor, and sole employee of the business. I have over 30 years of experience in home ownership and maintenance in the Hamden/North Haven community. I am licensed and fully insured and offer a 12-month warranty on all services.
Rates - My regular rate is $40 per hour plus materials (no mark-up), two-hour minimum. My emergency after 5pm and weekend rate is $60 per hour. My fee clock starts when I arrive at your home. I do not charge for travel time to and from your home (Hamden/North Haven) nor for the initial visit to review your punch list.

Keep the rain out - the most common source of home damage is water ... from external and internal sources. It softens and rots wood, which invites carpenter ants and termites, creates mold, stains ceilings, and destroys wall board. The breakdown in your home's protection system is most often traced to your gutters, downspouts and/or leaders. They work well as a team, but they need inspecting annually. And that is best done in a moderate rainfall. So, grab your umbrella and walk around your house the next time it rains and check those gutters/downspouts/leaders. No water should be overflowing your gutters, and the water needs to flow from the downspouts/leaders away from your home. Any pooling water near your home is a warning sign.
Appliance maintenance - always know the location of your water main shut-off valve and internal water sources and perform routine inspections. If you see unexplained water on the floor, under a sink, in the basement, a water stain on the ceiling, or even loose tiles on a kitchen or bathroom floor, please take it seriously. A cracked appliance hose or a loose fitting can also lead to gallons of water on your floors. Tip - install a shut-off valve to your clothes washer, and when you are not washing clothes, keep the valve closed. Also, install stainless steel hoses feeding your clothes washer.
